Best AI CRO Tools for eCommerce in 2026 (Honest Picks)

Mantas Karmazaat MDigitalai cro tools

"AI CRO tool" now covers four very different products. Some watch your visitors and summarize what they did. Some audit your pages and tell you what to fix. Some write A/B test ideas. Some change the page for each visitor. Buy the wrong type and you pay for answers to a question you did not ask.

Below are 9 tools that online stores actually use, grouped by the job the AI does. Prices come from each tool's own pricing page in October 2026. Prices change, so check before you buy.

Tools That Watch Your Visitors

These tools record what shoppers do. The AI saves you hours of watching recordings. They do not tell you what to change; they show you where people struggle, and you decide.

1. Microsoft Clarity

What it does: Session recordings, heatmaps and rage-click and dead-click detection. Its Copilot feature writes plain-language takeaways from one recording or a group of recordings, summarizes a page's heatmaps across desktop, tablet and mobile, and answers questions about your data in a chat.

Price: Free. Microsoft's own FAQ says Clarity is "a free service forever" with no traffic limits.

Best for: Every store. There is no reason not to install it.

Limits: It shows behavior, not causes or fixes. Microsoft itself warns that the generative AI summaries can be wrong, so check a summary against the recording before you act on it. You need steady traffic before the patterns mean much.

2. Hotjar (now part of Contentsquare)

What it does: Heatmaps, session replays, surveys and feedback widgets. On the current Contentsquare plans, the paid Growth tier adds AI summaries of replays and heatmaps and an AI chat (Sense) on your data.

Price: Hotjar's pricing page now redirects to Contentsquare, which lists a free plan and a Growth plan from $39/month billed yearly. Some older Hotjar plans are still in use, so check current pricing for your account.

Best for: Stores that want surveys and on-page feedback next to behavior data.

Limits: The AI features sit on paid tiers. Like Clarity, it tells you where shoppers struggle, not what the fix is.

3. Lucky Orange

What it does: Heatmaps, recordings, funnels, form analytics and surveys. Discovery AI lets you ask questions in plain language ("which form field causes the most abandonment?") and links you to the heatmap or funnel that answers it.

Price: From $32/month billed yearly for up to 3,500 sessions a month, with a 7-day free trial. The pricing page lists Discovery AI as an add-on in one place and as included in another, so confirm what your plan includes.

Best for: Stores that want to ask questions about their analytics in plain language instead of building reports.

Limits: Session caps on the lower plans; no free plan.

Tools That Test and Personalize

These tools change what visitors see and measure the result. They need traffic. Before you pay for one, check how long a test would take on your numbers with the free calculators on our CRO tools page. If the answer is "four months", start with fixes, not tests.

4. VWO

What it does: A/B testing, personalization and behavior analytics in one platform. VWO Copilot suggests test ideas from a page URL or a goal and fills in the hypothesis, variations and goals for the test. The editor can also suggest alternative copy for text on your page.

Price: VWO's pricing page (now under the Wingify name) shows plan tiers but no prices; you book a demo. Its sign-up form offers a 30-day free trial with no credit card.

Best for: Established stores and teams that run tests every month.

Limits: Priced for teams with a testing program. AI test ideas still need enough traffic to prove a winner.

5. Shoplift

What it does: A/B tests for Shopify themes, templates and URLs, with no code. Lift Assist, on the Advanced plan and up, suggests tests based on your brand and on test ideas from other brands.

Price: Core is $74/month billed yearly or $99 monthly. Advanced, which includes Lift Assist, is $299/month. All plans start with a 14-day free trial.

Best for: Shopify stores with enough traffic to test theme and template changes.

Limits: Shopify only. The AI suggestions are on the higher plan.

6. Fibr

What it does: Fibr's platform uses AI agents to adapt landing pages to each visitor, for example to match the ad they clicked. Its experimentation suite writes hypotheses and creates variants. Fibr also offers a free CRO audit where you pick a focus (personalization, experimentation or web performance).

Price: The audit is free. The platform starts at $239/month billed yearly for 1 website and up to 50,000 sessions.

Best for: Brands that send paid traffic to landing pages and want each ad to land on a matching page.

Limits: It is a general website tool, not built only for stores, and the free audit is the front door to the paid platform. We compare the two approaches in AuditYourStore vs Fibr.

Tools That Audit Your Pages

These tools look at your pages and give you a list of problems and fixes. No traffic needed, which makes them the right first step for a new or small store.

7. ConversionScore

What it does: You enter one URL, and the AI scores the page on six conversion pillars and gives a prioritized action plan. Paid plans add an implementation roadmap, mobile and desktop specs, an AI chat about your results and PDF downloads.

Price: A free analysis with no credit card. Its pricing page says plans start at $12/month; Pro is listed at $99/month.

Best for: Checking one landing page or home page quickly.

Limits: It audits the page you enter, so a whole store means many runs.

8. EcomHint

What it does: It audits your store the way a shopper moves through it and lists what makes them leave, with a fix for each issue and, when useful, a recommended app or plugin. A subscription adds MCP access so you can discuss fixes with Claude or ChatGPT.

Price: A free preview (score, biggest blocker, one quick win), a single report for $19, or $29/month for 10 audits per billing period.

Best for: Shopify and WooCommerce stores that want a store audit with app suggestions.

Limits: It supports only a few platforms, led by Shopify and WooCommerce. See how it compares on checks and platforms in AuditYourStore vs EcomHint.

9. AuditYourStore

What it does: It reviews screenshots of your real pages on desktop and mobile and checks them against 277 CRO points: product pages, cart, checkout, trust, speed and email. Each finding comes with step-by-step fix instructions for your platform and a revenue impact estimate. If you connect Google Analytics 4 or Microsoft Clarity, the full audit also reads your own visitor data.

Price: The free audit checks 24 points in under 2 minutes with no sign-up. The full 277-point audit is $14.95 (or 5 credits for $49.95), and credits never expire. Full details are on the pricing page.

Best for: A fast diagnosis of the whole store with a fix list you or your developer can act on the same day. It supports Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, Magento, PrestaShop and custom stores.

Limits: It does not run A/B tests or personalize pages, and it does not replace customer research.

How to Choose by Store Stage

New or small store (low traffic, few orders a week)

You do not have the traffic to test, so testing tools waste money. Install Microsoft Clarity (free), then run an audit tool to find the obvious leaks: a hidden shipping cost, a slow mobile product page, a missing returns policy. Fix those first. Our guide to a CRO audit explains what a good audit covers.

Growing store (steady traffic and daily orders)

Keep Clarity. Add Hotjar or Lucky Orange if you want surveys or a chat over your data. Re-run an audit after big theme or app changes. On Shopify, start Shoplift tests on your highest-traffic templates once a calculator says a test can finish in a few weeks.

Established store (high traffic, a team or an agency)

This is where VWO or Fibr make sense: a test every month, personalization by traffic source, and someone to analyze the results. Many stores at this stage also hire an agency; our CRO audit cost guide shows what that costs and when it pays.

Where AuditYourStore Fits

AuditYourStore is one tool among these, and it does one job: the diagnosis. It tells you what is wrong across the whole store and how to fix it, in minutes, for less than a month of most subscriptions. It does not watch your visitors (Clarity does that for free) and it does not run tests (VWO and Shoplift do).

The setup that works for most stores is simple: a free behavior tool, an audit to rank the fixes, and a testing tool only when traffic allows. Start with the part that needs no traffic at all. Run the free 24-point audit on your store; it takes under 2 minutes and needs no sign-up.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an AI CRO tool?

An AI CRO tool uses AI to do part of conversion rate optimization for you: summarize session recordings and heatmaps, audit your pages and list fixes, suggest A/B test ideas, or personalize pages for each visitor. Most tools do one of these jobs well, not all of them.

Which AI CRO tool is free?

Microsoft Clarity is free with no traffic limits, and its Copilot feature summarizes recordings and heatmaps. Hotjar has a free plan. AuditYourStore, EcomHint, ConversionScore and Fibr offer free audits or previews, with paid tiers for the full report or platform.

Can an AI tool replace A/B testing?

No. An AI audit or an AI summary tells you what is likely wrong. An A/B test proves which version sells more. If your store has enough traffic, use AI to find and rank ideas, then test the big ones. If it does not, ship the clear fixes and watch your numbers.

What is the best AI CRO tool for Shopify?

It depends on the job. For behavior data, Microsoft Clarity is free and installs on Shopify. For theme and template A/B tests, Shoplift is built for Shopify. For a fast audit with fixes, AuditYourStore and EcomHint both support Shopify.

Do I need more than one CRO tool?

Usually yes, but not many. A common setup is one behavior tool (Clarity or Hotjar), one audit tool to find and rank fixes, and an A/B testing tool only once you have the traffic for it.
